About Us:
Towards the middle of 1976 a notice appeared in the philatelic press to the effect that anyone interested in the formation of a stamp club whose interest was to be the theme ‘Freemasonry’ should contact one Trevor Fray in Plymouth. From the amount of interest shown it was decided to form the ‘Masonic Philatelic Club of Great Britain’ For various reasons that name was changed the following year to the ‘Masonic Philatelic Club’.
The original objectives of the Club were: The furtherance of Masonic Research via the media of postage stamps, the dissemination of knowledge gained and the quiet enjoyment of this interesting hobby
The area of study has now been extended to cover postcards and postal seals
The Annual General Meeting of the Club, the only ‘formal meeting’ of the year , is held in November which to date, has been in the Refreshment Room at Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street. From November 2003 it is likely that this meeting will be held at the R.M.B.I Home at Oadby, Leicester. Hopefully this will encourage members from the Midlands and the north of England to attend. Members are also encouraged to hold ‘Informal Meetings’ in the areas in which they live: members of the Committee make every effort to attend these.
