Commemorative postcards have been issued for a variety of reasons: that shown is a ‘Maximum Card, with a stamps of the picture depicted stuck in one corner of the card.  This particular card shows W.Brother Sir Charles Warren, Charter Master of the Quatuor Coronai Lodge No. 2076, the ‘Premier Lodge of Research.

Cover produced by the United States to mark the day of issue of a stamp in their series ‘Performing Arts’ and depicts Will Rogers, Actor, Cowboy and Author.  
He was initiated 18 February, 1905,  passed on 10 March and raised on 13 March, 1906, in Lodge Claremore No. 53, Oklahoma.  Also a member of Scottish Rite, Valley McAlester and Akdar Shrine Temple (125).

Cover produced to mark the firs day of issue of a stamp issued by the American Post Office depicting General Claire Lee Chennault of  ‘Flying Tigers’ fame.  He was initiated on 6 June and passed on 6 October 1921 but not raised until 24 May 1926, in City Lodge No. 1053, league City, Texas.

Whilst Freemasonry arrived in New South Wales with the First Fleet, the unification of the various bodies of Masons as the United Grand Lodge of New South Wales did not occur until 16th August 1881, when the Inauguration Ceremony took place in the Old Exhibition Building in Sydney.  This cover commemorates the event and was issued on 16th August 1988.
